Friday 7 June, 2002 Dear Readers,
Since you've last heard from me, I am still having the time of my life!
Yesterday, I walked through Green Park to visit my companies London Office and enjoyed
meeting everyone in person. While there, I called my office in the USA and spoke to some
of my co-workers and an author whom I hope to be able to surprise you with the details of
a wonderful interview on Saturday morning before I make my way back home.
After my visit, I walked to Hatchard's, a beautiful, several story book shop on
Piccadilly. Then I continued on through Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square to Charing
Cross Road. There I went into three book shops before being so weighed down I had to call
a taxi to take me back to the hotel!
After getting my books safely stashed, I had dinner, bought 32 more postcards, ironed,
wrote my postcards, inventoried my books, went over my accounts and went to sleep.
Today, I am looking forward to heading to Windsor to visit the Castle and also to hear
Jane Roberts, the new Royal Librarian, speak at Methven's Book Shop. Tomorrow is tea with
a surprise guest. Saturday, is hopefully, a media pass to the Colonel's Review of Trooping
the Colour on Horse Guards Parade and then home. I'm looking forward to seeing my family,
but dreading carrying all those books! Thank heaven I only brought one carry on bag for my
stay, as I'll be able to buy a case for the books and have them checked in at the airport.
Hope you enjoy the blurry photos I've sent to Geraldine.
I'm a terrible photographer and besides rewinding the film by accident - twice - I took
all the far away pictures on "telephoto" setting believing it would get clearer
shots far away. Just the opposite occurred and I have great shots of all the heads in the
bleachers in front of me and blurry shots of all the things I was hoping to show you.
Also, there is a photograph of me in front of Buckingham Palace taken on the day of the
Jubilee. You'll know it's me because I am dressed in a London Fleece and Baseball cap that
I purchased to keep me warm on that damp Tuesday. I'm the only one with my head facing
forward, looking like a major tourist!!
All the best,
-- Eileen Sullivan --
